About a third of households in Romania are equipped with at least one air conditioner, according to a study carried out by E.ON in the first quarter of this year.
Moreover, 80% of those who already have a home cooling system declare that they use air conditioners and 18.6% use fans. Other systems are very rarely found in Romanian homes, less than 1%.
When it comes to the frequency of using the air conditioner, 43% of respondents in the E.ON study use it only on hot days, and about the same number (42%) say they use it daily during the hot season.
At the same time, to obtain the desired comfort, two-thirds of the respondents (67%) use the air conditioner between one and four hours/day, 22% between four and six hours/day, and 10% more than six hours/day.
For the majority of Romanians (57%), the comfortable temperature in the home is between 21 and 23°C. About 23% prefer a lower temperature, below 20°C, and 18% higher, between 24-26°C.
Regarding appliance maintenance, 45% of respondents state that they check the appliance once a year, and about 17% once every two years. Another 23% say they only check when necessary.
