Chinese electric vehicle giant NIO is expanding deeper into Europe, with Romania set to join its growth roadmap by 2026. The company is entering the local market in partnership with AutoWallis, one of CEE’s leading automotive retail groups, based in Hungary.
NIO’s initial offer in Romania will include a range of high-performance electric vehicles, built on its proprietary software and hardware platforms. These include:
- NIO EL6 – a versatile, intelligent electric SUV;
- NIO EL8 – a premium six-seat electric SUV designed for luxury and space;
- NIO ET5 – a smart mid-size electric sedan;
- NIO ET5 Touring – an electric tourer.
firefly: Smart urban mobility for the next generation
Alongside its premium lineup, NIO is also launching firefly, a new brand of compact, intelligent EVs tailored for city driving and younger, sustainability-minded users. Though smaller in size, firefly models are equipped with the same level of technological sophistication as their larger counterparts. Key features include:
- AI-powered voice assistant
- Smart navigation with real-time updates
- Connected services and digital ecosystem integration
- Over-the-air software updates
