Sparta Prague dominated the second leg and overcame FCSB, 3-2. At half-time it was 3-0 to the Czechs and it was only their relaxation that allowed the hosts to hope until the end.
The atmosphere in the stands was desolate, even if the hosts announced the sell-out with the help of supporters from around Bucharest. Many of them left the arena at half-time, and the hosts’ ultras displayed the world’s first-ever bookmaker-sponsored choreography.
The Czechs made a strong start to the match at the Ghencea Stadium. They scored as early as the 13th minute through Birmancevic, the same player scoring his brace 15 minutes later, after a penalty.
Sparta scored a worldie in the 37th minute. A cross from the right flank goes through the FCSB defense, the ball reaches Haraslin on the edge of the box and the Czech striker sends a superb shot into the side netting!
The Czechs were in total control of the match, passing from the first pass, combining beautifully and simply, and in the 43rd minute, Haraslin played a one-two with a team-mate, but instead of passing into the box, he preferred to play on his own, ending with a shot wide.
FCSB closed the gap in the 60th minute. Olaru “steals” the ball from striker Birmancevic near Sparta’s box, penetrates, shoots beautifully, and Jensen, even if he touches the ball, can’t stop the goal.
Even though they didn’t play anything, FCSB scored again in the 86th minute. Olaru, the host’s most active player today, crossed perfectly into the box to Edjouma who scored with a header.
