Valentin Cretu achieved the first victory of his career in the Luge Nations Cup

Romanian athlete Valentin Cretu achieved the first victory of his career, on Friday, February 10, at the FIL Nations Cup, a competition held in Winterberg (Germany).

Valentin Cretu won in 52.412 seconds ahead of 21-year-old German Florian Müller (+0.034) and 25-year-old US-American Jonathan Gustafson (+0.101).

”My first Nations Cup win makes me very happy. The run today was also quite decent. It is just a good feeling to win”, said the 33-year-old winner from Sinaia for The International Luge Federation website.

Eduard-Mihai Craciun finished in the last place (20th), with a time of 1 min 02 sec. In women’s singles, Raluca Stramaturaru finished 11th out of 19 athletes (57 sec). In the men’s doubles, Tudor-Stefan Handaric and Sebastian Motzca finished in 5th place, with a time of 44 sec, out of nine teams lined up at the start.
