Romania has only six Blue Flag beaches on the Black Sea coast this summer, the same amount as last year. Bulgaria has 22 Blue Flag beaches, and Greece has over 600 Blue Flag beaches.
The six beaches on Romanian Black Sea coast awarded the Blue Flag badge are Vega Vintage Mamaia, Marina Regia and Phoenicia in Navodari, Citadel and Azur in Eforie, and Phoenicia Blue View in Olimp.
Spain has 731 Blue Flag locations, the biggest number in the world, 629 beaches, 97 Marinas, and five Boats.
Blue Flag is a world-renowned award run by the Foundation for Environmental Education. To qualify for this award, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety-related, and access-related criteria must be met and maintained.
Also, the Blue Flag standard is only guaranteed during the Blue Flag season (season dates are different for each site).
