In Bucharest, the average price paid for a cup of coffee is 10,5 RON. In ten other cities analyzed by the Hospitality Culture Institute, the average cost is lower by more than 1 RON, respectively 9.4 RON per cup.
Nine out of ten study respondents drink coffee at home and five out of ten respondents drink several coffees a day. Among them, the average consumption amounts to 2.7 cups of coffee daily.
Almost half (47%) of people in the capital bought their last coffee from a cafe, followed by gas stations and coffee machines (20% of the responses). In other cities, 36% of the respondents bought their coffee from a cafe, 25% from a gas station, and 21% from a coffee machine.
In addition to the capital, the study analyzed coffee consumption habits in the cities of Ploiesti, Brașov, Timișoara, Oradea, Cluj, Iași, Constanța, Craiova, and Galați.
