Bucharest to put Chinese Yutong U12 trolleybuses into operation. In recent days, all 22 new trolleybuses equipped with autonomous driving capability have arrived in Romania.

The delivery represents a European premiere, as the Yutong U12 models are the first trolleybuses of this type produced by the Chinese manufacturer and officially delivered to a European market.

Yutong U12 trolleybuses measure 12 meters in length and can carry around 90 passengers, more than 30 of whom are seated. The vehicles are equipped with modern amenities, including dual USB charging ports (Type A and Type C), full air conditioning in the passenger area, upholstered seats, and dedicated access ramps for people with disabilities.

A key feature of the Yutong U12 is its energy autonomy. Thanks to the Rechargeable Electric Energy Storage System (SRSEE), the trolleybuses can operate for at least 20 kilometers without being connected to the overhead power network.

In recent years, Bucharest also acquired 100 Astra Imperio Metropolitan trams manufactured in Romania, 100 Solaris Trollino 12M trolleybuses with autonomous capability, and 100 ZTE Granton electric buses, each measuring 12 meters in length.
