Romanian capital, Bucharest, is the eight most congested city in the world, and fourth place in Europe, based on Tom Tom Traffic Index 2023 edition.

The travel for a 10 km distance in Bucharest takes up to 27 min 40 s (+20 seconds compared to the 2022 Traffic Index). A driver in the Romanian capital spends 284 hours in rush hour per year (277 hours in 2022).

The worst day to drive through Bucharest in 2023 was Tuesday, November 28, with an average travel time for a 10 km drive of 36 min 50 seconds. Bucharest drivers lost 150 hours in their life in traffic due to congestion.
