BYD Dolphin Surf

Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has officially introduced the Dolphin Surf to the Romanian market, its fifth fully electric model available locally and the eighth launched in Europe in under three years.

Despite its modest footprint, just under four meters long, the Dolphin Surf offers a spacious and practical interior. The trunk starts at 308 liters and expands to over 1,000 liters with the rear seats folded down.

Battery Options and Driving Rang

Buyers can choose between two Blade battery options: a 30 kWh version for the Active trim, and a larger 43.2 kWh version for the Boost and Comfort models. These provide a combined WLTP range of up to 322 kilometers, with urban range reaching up to 507 kilometers.

All versions support AC three-phase charging at 11 kW, with full charges taking between 3.5 and 5 hours depending on the battery size. For faster turnarounds, DC fast charging can bring the battery from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

The Dolphin Surf comes in three configurations: Active: 30 kWh battery, 65 kW motor, 0–100 km/h in 11.1 seconds, Boost: 43.2 kWh battery, same 65 kW motor, slightly slower at 12.1 seconds, and Comfort: 43.2 kWh battery, upgraded 115 kW motor, 0–100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds.

High-Tech Interior

Inside, the Dolphin Surf offers features usually found in more expensive cars: a 10.1-inch rotating touchscreen, voice commands activated with “Hi BYD”, full smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry using NFC technology.

Every model comes equipped with a full Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane assist, and automatic high-beam adjustment.

Pricing and Availability

The BYD Dolphin Surf is now available for order in Romania, with first deliveries expected in June. All versions come with a six-year warranty for the car.
