In 2022, Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure signed contracts from European funds with a value of 9.74 billion euros. Contracts worth 409 million euros are currently being signed, resulting in a total value of 10.2 billion euros.
It is the largest amount ever contracted in the history of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. In 2021, 966 million euros worth of contracts were signed, 2.9 billion euros in 2020, 892 million euros in 2019 and 877 million euros in 2018.
Also, the amounts paid from European funds for infrastructure projects have reached a record level. Thus, 2.27 billion euros were paid in 2022, 1.41 billion euros in 2021, 1.22 billion euros in 2020, 0.850 billion euros in 2019 and 0.51 billion euros in 2018.
Road infrastructure projects recorded the largest increase in the amounts paid, as follows: 2022 – 1.75 billion euros, 2021 – 0.98 billion euros, 2020 – 0.73 billion euros, 2019 – 0.40 billion euro and 2018 – 0.26 billion euro.
Thus, contracts signed for road construction works reached 5.36 billion euros and a total of around 220 km of highway, of which the main projects are A1: Sibiu-Pitesti and A7: Ploiesti-Pascani.
As for railways, new contracts signed worth 3.53 billion euros and total over 240 km of high-speed railway, of which the main projects are Arad-Timisoara-Caransebes and Cluj-Episcopia Bihor.
