Deutsche Bank’s Bucharest technology hub tops 2,150 employees as AI adoption accelerates

Deutsche Bank is continuing to expand its technology operations in Romania, with its Bucharest-based technology centre more than doubling in size over the past five years.

DB Global Technology local team has grown from approximately 1,100 employees in 2021 to more than 2,150 today. The company hired around 200 specialists in 2025 and expects to maintain a similar recruitment pace throughout 2026.

Earlier this year, the company leased and fitted out two additional floors in Bucharest, creating capacity for more than 600 employees and reinforcing its long-term commitment to the local market.

Romania gains strategic weight within Deutsche Bank

The Romanian technology centre plays a critical role in developing and operating applications used across Deutsche Bank’s global operations. Local teams are involved in areas ranging from digital banking and financing platforms to cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management systems.

The growing influence of the Bucharest operation is also reflected in the increasing number of Romanian professionals taking on international leadership responsibilities within the group.

AI community reaches 500 engineers

DB Global Technology has built a local AI community of approximately 500 engineers focused on developing skills, exploring new technologies and driving innovation initiatives across the organization.

The adoption of AI-powered tools is already widespread. More than half of the local workforce uses solutions such as Google Gemini Code Assist and GitHub Copilot to support software development activities including code generation, application modernization, testing and automation.
