Electric and hybrid cars reached a market share of 20.4% at the end of the first four months of 2023 in Romania, while registrations in this segment increased by 29.4% compared to the same period in 2022.
Sales of full electric cars increased by 36.8%, and those of plug-in hybrids by 43.1%. Full electric cars have a market share of 8.7% in the first four months of the year, compared to 7.9% in 2022.
Sales of plug-in hybrid cars registered an increase of 87.8% from one year to the next. Sales of full hybrid cars increased by 17.3% at the end of April 2023 compared to the first four months of the previous year.
Which are the most sold electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars in Romania
Dacia Spring is the best-selling fully electric car, with 1,865 units and an increase of 27.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. Spring is followed by Renault Megane (292 units, no registrations in the similar period from 2022), Tesla Model Y (289 units, +542.2%), Volkswagen e-UP! (221 units, +132.6%) and Tesla Model 3 (208 units, -11.5%).
Ford Kuga is the most sold plug-in hybrid model with 290 units sold (+143.7% compared to the first four months of 2022) followed by the Mercedes Benz GLE (114 units, +18.8%) and the Mazda CX 60 (110 units).
Toyota dominates the top of hybrid cars with the Corolla (571 units, -7.5% compared to 2022), Yaris (487 units, +68.5%) and RAV4 (475 units, +18.8%) models.
