On Thursday, September 21, traffic opens on another 14 kilometers on the A3 Highway, from Nușfalău to Suplacu de Barcău. Thus, Romania will reach the 1000 kilometers of highways milestone.

The first deadline for the completion of the A3 Nușfalău – Suplacu de Barcău section was February 2023. The contract of around 385 million euros was signed in February 2021 and had a 6 months term for design and 18 months for execution.

Currently, Romania has in operation almost 955 km of highways and another 40 km of expressway. The longest highway in the country is A2, which connects Bucharest and Constanta, on the Black Sea Coast and has a 203 km length.
