Braşov-Ghimbav International Airport opened on June 15, 2023. State airline company Tarom sent a plane from Bucharest piloted by Cătălin Prunariu, the son of cosmonaut Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu.

For now, the Romanian Traffic Control Agency announced that it can provide air traffic services for Brașov International Airport only between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. It is the only airport in Southeast Europe where traffic is monitored and controlled by a Remote Tower.

DAN Air had the first flight from this airport, a 2 hours and 10 minutes travel from Brașov to Stuttgart, that took off at 12:50 p.m. Other DAN Air destinations from Brașov are Brussels, Nuremberg, London, and Barcelona.

Hungarian low cost carrier Wizz Air announced flights from Brașov to Luton (starting August 2) and from Brașov to Dortmund (from September 2).

There is also a bus line from the city train station to the airport, departing every hour, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The A1 bus line will connect the City Center and Livada Postei (Old Town) with the airport terminal. One way ticket costs 4 lei (0,80 EUR).
