Burrito Madre, a Mexican-inspired fast-casual restaurant brand owned by US-based Street Guys Hospitality, is entering Romania with a $400,000 investment in its first location at Bucharest’s Mega Mall.

Scheduled to open on October 26, the restaurant marks the start of an expansion plan targeting 20 locations across Romania over the next five years. The company is looking beyond Bucharest, with Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Constanța, Brașov and Ploiești among the cities targeted for future openings.

At its first Romanian restaurant, Burrito Madre expects to serve between 300 and 400 people daily. Customers will be able to order at the counter or through self-service kiosks, while the menu will also be available through food delivery platforms.

Mexican-inspired food, made to order

Burrito Madre is bringing a build-your-own approach to Romania’s fast-casual dining market, allowing customers to customise their meals rather than choose from a fixed selection of combinations.

The menu features burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos and salads, with different meat and plant-based options, vegetables, sauces and additional toppings. Ingredients, including fresh vegetables and meat, will be sourced through Romanian suppliers and distributors. Vegetables will be cut on-site, while meat will be marinated and cooked in the restaurant’s kitchen.

From Belgrade to Bucharest

Founded in Belgrade in 2014, Burrito Madre has expanded to 20 restaurants across six Serbian cities: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Šabac, Pančevo, Čačak and Kragujevac. The brand expects to generate approximately $10 million in revenue in 2026.
