Romania U19 delivered a historic performance against Denmark, claiming a 3-0 victory and securing their first-ever place in the UEFA U19 EURO semifinals! The match took place at Stadionul Arcul de Triumf in front of 6,133 passionate home fans.

Just two minutes in, Denmark’s Schwartau had a powerful effort blocked, only for Vermeșan to respond moments later with a dangerous low cross. Matei was close to converting but couldn’t reach the ball in time.

Denmark threaten early, but Romania strike first

In the 3rd minute, Larsen struck the woodwork for Denmark after more great work down the left by Schwartau. Agyekum tested Romania’s keeper Simon in the 13th minute with a sharp left-footed effort, but Simon made the save.

Despite Denmark’s early pressure, it was Romania who took the lead in the 34th minute. Guțea beat Olsson on the left wing, cut inside from the byline and squeezed a composed finish past the near post. A moment of brilliance from the attacking midfielder, who justified his place in the starting lineup with an excellent individual goal.

Second half dominance: Barbu and Vermeșan seal the win

In the 58th minute, Barbu, the hero from Matchday 1, doubled Romania’s lead with a stunning volley. He latched onto a dropping ball just inside the box and found the bottom-left corner with precision.

Denmark responded with three substitutions, but Romania remained in control. In the 77th minute, Vermeșan cut inside from the left and fired a deflected shot past Martin to make it 3-0.

Historic moment for Romania U19

Romania becomes the first host nation since Greece in 2015 to reach the U19 EURO semifinals, marking a landmark achievement for the young squad. They will play The Netherlands on Monday, June 23.
