Summer festivals are becoming an increasingly important part of Romanian leisure culture, according to the latest study conducted by Raiffeisen Bank. The research reveals that 7 out of 10 Romanians aged between 18 and 65 attend at least one festival per year.

Among these festivalgoers, one-third attend two to three events annually, while a smaller group of 4% participates in more than three festivals per year.

As technology reshapes the festival experience, digital payments are quickly becoming the norm. According to the study 44% of participants prefer paying with their phone, 27% use festival-issued wristbands, and 10% pay with a smartwatch. Despite this shift, cash still plays a role, with 45% of respondents using it, and 40% continuing to use physical cards.

Festival budgets reach 950 RON or more

The amount Romanians are willing to spend at festivals varies significantly. For 32% of attendees, the budget ranges between 300 and 500 RON per event. However, younger festivalgoers under 35 are leading the way in spending, often exceeding 950 RON per festival.

When asked about their expectations for festival pricing, 48% anticipate a 10–24% increase in costs compared to 2024, while 18% believe prices will rise by more than 25%. In contrast, only 15% expect prices to drop.
