Romania’s car fleet reached 10 million vehicles for the first time in history. Almost 8 million are passenger cars, the rest being tractors, special vehicles, motorcycles and various trailers, Profit reports.

But, the medium age of the vehicles in circulation is very high, three-quarters are more than 12 years old and over 2.4 million units have a non-euro pollution norm. In terms of the propulsion system, more than half of the vehicles in circulation are equipped with diesel engines.

Both Dacia and Volkswagen have 1.37 million cars each registered in circulation, followed by Opel and Ford. Dacia Logan, with 472,700 units, and VW Golf, 438,300 units, are the most common models on the road.
