A 43 year old woman was mauled to death by a pack of dogs today while jogging on a field, at around 270 meters away from Lacul Morii pier on the western outskirts of Bucharest.
Strangely, the same woman was attacked by a pack of dogs in the same area, last year. Then, she was hospitalized in critical condition with multiple injures on head and limbs. In April, 2022, was saved by two cyclists who were passing through the area at that time.
The field is part of the former Dambovita river swamps, being part of a non-inhabited area between Chiajna Commune and Giulesti neighborhood in Bucharest.
People who live in the Giulesti area say they have sent numerous reports of stray dogs that can be dangerous. At the same time, they say that they called 112 and sent emails to the Sector 6 City Hall.
Bucharest had a very bad record on stray dogs attacks, but managed to solve this problem in the past years. Now, it is completely safe to walk around all neighborhoods, but you can still meet dangerous stray dogs on the fields around the city and in logistical areas.
