REWE Group is bringing its BIPA drugstore chain to Romania. The first store to open early next year in Bucharest’s Mega Mall, on the -1 level, covering 370 square meters. Following the Bucharest debut, BIPA plans to open 20 to 25 stores per year.

The move introduces one of Austria’s most recognized and best-performing drugstore brands to a fast-growing Romanian beauty and personal care market. BIPA will launch locally with more than 12,000 products across 15 categories, including beauty, skin care, hair care, baby, wellness, and household items.

More than 1,000 external brands will be available, along with over 1,500 private-label SKUs from its own lines such as Bi Care, Bi Life, Bi Kids, Bi Styled, Bi Home, Baby Well, Look by Bipa, and Bi Good.

Founded 45 years ago, BIPA commands strong brand recognition in Austria and Croatia, counting around 3.3 million loyal customers. The company says the Romanian rollout will replicate Austria and Croatia’s winning model while adapting to local consumer habits.

The entry comes on the back of record performance. In 2025, BIPA is set to surpass €1 billion in turnover across Austria and Croatia. Over the past three years, revenue increased more than 25% in Austria and 72% in Croatia, making BIPA Croatia the top-performing division within REWE Group.
