Military followed the route of a Russian drone that has flown in Romania’s national airspace

Romanian military radar surveillance system identified and tracked, on Saturday night, a drone that flew in the national airspace and left Romania’s national territory towards Ukraine. The drone was also monitored by two F-16 aircraft.

Thus, starting at 2.25 AM, two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86 Borcea Air Base to monitor the situation. The drone’s evolution was observed by the two F-16 jets, which returned to base around 4.08 AM.

From the data available, there is a probability of an impact zone on the national territory, in an uninhabited area, in the vicinity of Periprava. Since this morning, the Ministry of National Defense forces have been carrying out searches in the area.

Representatives of the Ministry of National Defense announced on Sunday that Russian forces resumed a series of drone strikes on civilian targets and port infrastructure in Ukraine on the morning of September 8, near the border with Romania.

Thus, the National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to alert the population in Tulcea and Constanta counties, and RO-Alert messages were sent at 2.20 and 2.38 respectively.
