New car registrations fell by 24% in April. Electric cars are down 70%!

In the first 4 months of 2025, new car registrations reached 43,361 units. This is a decrease of 5.1% compared to the same period in 2024

New car registrations fell 24% last month compared to April 2024 to 9,910 units, with registrations of pure electric cars down 70% compared to the same month last year, according to APIA data.

Domestic manufacturer Dacia topped the sales charts with 2,325 units. It was followed by Toyota with 997 units, Skoda with 842 units, Volkswagen with 642 units, Renault with 565 units, Hyundai with 499 units, BMW with 488 units, Ford with 486 units, Mercedes-Benz with 468 units, and Suzuki with 322 units.

With 886 units sold, the Dacia Duster was the best-selling new car model in April 2025. It was followed by Dacia Logan – 678 units, Dacia Sandero – 558 units, Toyota Corolla – 312 units, Skoda Octavia – 296 units, Ford Kuga – 245 units, Renault Clio – 243 units, Toyota RAV4 – 229 units, Hyundai Tucson – 222 units and Toyota Yaris Cross – 166 units.
