OMV Petrom brags about paying 7% of Romania’s tax revenues in 2022

OMV Petrom announces in a press release that it paid to the Romanian state budget around 20 billion lei in 2022, almost double compared to 2021.

Direct and indirect taxes, fees and contributions represented more than 19 billion lei, while basic and special dividends amounted to about 1 billion lei. Direct taxes had the biggest increase, up to approximately 10 billion lei, almost 4 times more than in 2021. Of this amount, additional taxes and contributions accounted for 7.3 billion lei.

On the other hand, OMV Petrom reported in 2022 a profit of over 2 billion euros, the the highest amount ever reported by a Romanian company.

Former state company Petrom is 51.2% owned by the Austrian group OMV. The Romanian state, through the Ministry of Energy, owns 20.7% of the company’s shares, and the rest of 28.1% of shares are public traded.
