Bucharest tops the number of tourist arrivals in accommodation units

Over 11659.9 thousand foreign tourists arrived in Romania, as registered at border points, in the period 01.01.-30.11.2022, an increase of 86.8% compared to the period 01.01.-30.11.2021, latest INS data show.

By country, the most arrivals of foreign tourists staying in tourist accommodation units, came from: Germany (163.1 thousand people), Israel (132.0 thousand people) and Italy (109.7 thousand people).

As for the total number of overnight stays, from January to November 2022, overnight stays of Romanian tourists in accommodation units represented 86.1%, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists registered a percentage of 13.9%.

The average length of stay between 01.01.-30.11.2022 was 2.2 days for both Romanian and foreign tourists.

By county, in the same period, the number of tourist arrivals in accommodation units recorded higher values in: Bucharest (1348.2 thousand people), Constanța (1236.1 thousand people ) and Brasov (1084.7 thousand people).

Although the numbers are higher, for comparison, only in the second semester of 2022, Czechia attracted almost 1.9 million foreign tourists, more than the total number registered by Romania in 11 months of last year.
