Another new epic episode in the series of historic matches between the biggest rivals in Romanian sports took place today in the A1 men’s volleyball division. Steaua won at the end of a match that lasted over 2 hours and 45 minutes.
In a full, far beyond the standard capacity Mihai Viteazul hall, reminding of the ancient Colosseum, the two formations of “gladiators” fought fiercely for every point.
The difference was made by Steaua’s supporters who decisively contributed to the victory of the favorites. Steaua-Dinamo ended 3-2 (27-25, 22-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11). At 37 minutes, the third set was the longest.
The best players in the field were Matei from Steaua (25 points) and Cuk from Dinamo (23 points). Matei and Iftime from Steaua, Cherbeleață, and Cuk from Dinamo managed two aces each.
With this victory, Steaua Bucharest stands in first place (43 points) but puts one point over rival Dinamo Bucharest, which ranks second (42 points). The podium is completed by Arcada Galati (39 points).
